How We Use Science Jigsaw Puzzles
In our house, we love science jigsaw puzzles! They’re big and they’re fun, specifically the ones from Genius Games or Timberdoodle. We use this particular science jigsaw puzzle for a couple different things. First, it is a fun way to learn about anatomy. We read the information on card as we put the pieces together. It is also a great way to review what we have already learned about anatomy. We use it as a reference when we are studying the human body.
This is also a great way to spend some quality time together. My kids and I have enjoyed working on it together, and we have had some great conversations!
The first time putting together the human body floor puzzle was full of wow’s and awe’s. But, saying that, it was pretty difficult the first time we put it together. We really had to look closely at the box it comes with to REALLY see the pieces. We finally figured out to group “like” pieces together, and from doing that, we were able to make a section of each piece of the body.

At this point, I’ve put this puzzle together – a lot – with my kids. Specifically, with Scout (my 4 year old). It’s been such a fun way to introduce the body to my preschooler. And at the same, discuss the different parts of the anatomy with my bigger kids.
It’s amazing how long this is, too! It’s about as long as Scout! It’s 4 feet long! It is super cool seeing how big the puzzle is when Scout lays next to it.

If you are looking for a fun and educational way to learn about the human body, the Dr. Livingston Human Body Floor Puzzle is a great choice! And they have even MORE puzzles, not just the human body floor one. They have a heart puzzle and a brain puzzle.
Not only can you grab Dr. Livingston’s floor puzzle by itself, but it’s also part of the Timberdoodle 1st Grade Curriculum Kit!
