About Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting Curriculum
The owner of Everyday Education, LLC is Janice Campbell, who actually bought this program about 15 years ago from another company, adding in your own personal touches. She used this particular handwriting book, Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting, with her children years ago and love it.
When it was time to get another copy of the book to use for her other children, she was disappointed to find that the book was out of print. She believed in this program so much so that she approached the then-owners and purchased the rights to it.
She created Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting to be available for all children who not only need to learn how to read but also to write in a unique, beautiful way in the form of italics. Now, you can find this simple to use handwriting book available for purchase in digital downloadable form or in print on her Everyday Education, LLC website.
With this handwriting program, you can use it to replace your current handwriting program, introduce a brand new way to handwriting into your homeschool schedule, or supplement your current handwriting program with Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting program.
We chose to make it our only handwriting curriculum, since I wanted them to focus on one handwriting technique at a time. Sometimes too much practicing of techniques muddles a child's brain and they get their wires crossed with so many new things they're trying to remember. So focusing on just the Perfect Reading, Everyday Education handwriting techniques was a perfect amount of focus for my elementary-aged children.
How We Use Perfect Reading, Everyday Education: A Handwriting Curriculum
If you like to use copywork to reinforce phonics and handwriting you want to be sure to take a look at Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting ebook for your homeschool family. That's how we used this program and since the kids felt elegant learning italic handwriting, they wouldn't stop at just one page.
When I gave this to my son to try out, he loved it. He's not as enthusiastic to be away from “Daniel's World” as his sister is, but I like that when he is enjoying something he goes all the way. Which is what he did with the italic handwriting curriculum. Before I knew it, he finished all of his pages I gave him!
Staying Organized With Your Homeschool Handwriting Papers
I printed out all of the first few lessons, times two for two children, and just gave them the stack to do. I have a 5-pocket cloth-like hanging file holder, and one of those pockets is for each child. I purchased this hanging file holder from the Dollar Tree for just a dollar, and I've used it in various ways everywhere we have traveled (we are a traveling homeschooling fam) depending on what we're learning and the season of our homeschool.
I put all of the lessons in each hanging file and when Morning Time happens first thing every morning before “official” school begins, the kids know to grab the sheets in their personal hanging file. I separate their sheets by manilla file folders so one folder is named handwriting, another named math drills, another named Shakespeare, and one named Bible Study.
I usually loop our morning time subjects with these subjects plus more subjects so that we can do all over the fun subjects. For example, after having gone through the loop once, it will go back around to start at handwriting again, which is when we'll do handwriting that morning.
Another time to do loops is during lunchtime. Sometimes when we're having a quick lunch, I'll let the kids stay focused on what they're doing. I find it just way easier to avoid interruptions both for my homeschool-mama-sake and also for the flow of the children's learning.
Why I Like Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting
This wonderful handwriting curriculum teaches the children how to write most of the letters in one stroke. Instead of picking up your pencil 2 or 3 different times to make one letter, which gives the child's pencil an opportunity each time to go crazy, the child has more control of writing their letters.
Now there are some letters that still have 2 strokes, but the majority of them teaches the children to write their italic letters in a single stroke without picking up their pencil.
Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting also helps children read with phonics included in the program. New readers can use this program incredibly well, and children who are already reading can begin on Chapter 6 where the copywork sentences come into play.
Children of all ages and as well as parents can use this program to learn italic handwriting! I genuinely enjoyed this gentle approach to learning how to write in italic handwriting; I found myself printing out a third copy of the sheets for myself! It's so fun! And the kids got a kick out of mom “doing school” too, which motivated their enthusiasm and excitement even more.
